Goodnight, Nike--It's been interesting.
For those of you who enjoyed my posts I would like to say. Good-bye. I am leaving DU of my own free choice. I just feel as if The DU of the Post-election is becoming too censored. I am not being forced to leave by any moderators AND I would like to say they have a hard job and doing the best they can. Give them the respect they deserve.

I just don't feel comfortable here speaking my mind any longer so I will leave before I cause any trouble--even if by accident.

Take care all

I may look at post from time to time as a guess but Nike has left the building in regards to posting or responding to posts.

thanks for the fun at least for a while.
Nikepallas

1. You'll be back.
I quit one time too, but it only lasted 2 days. Some DUers say that you're not really a member until you storm out of here once and come back.

3. Honest question
How are you being censored? You don't have to go into details, I'm just curious.

Thanks!

5. Like he said, it's not the moderators...

There are two things going on that make me think about leaving the boards;

(1) The DU Forums Start Page is overflowing with "junk posts." Used to be full of LBN and, you know, political discussion. Now it's full of subject lines like "Hillary Swank Looks Weird." Left unchecked, soon it'll be full of crap like "I r00lz! Y kant U C that!!!11 p p pantz >,<" and so forth.

(2) "The Border Patrol." Again, not the mods, but posters who think they police the board. Should you suggest ANY form of introspection, they will accuse you of being a Freeper or a racist or a Nazi or whatever floats their pile at that moment. I actually had someone ask me, "where's your profile?"--as if they were asking me for my "papers"--because I had the gall to infer that not every single liberal on the face of the planet puts their money where their mouth is.

I'd bet #2 is exactly what Nikepallas is talking about. (On the other hand, I'm sure #1-type posters will now wail that I'm trying to censor them. Round and round we go.)

Sure, it's fairly easy to ignore. For a while. Then it becomes just a pain in the ass.

7. As for your point #1
I think (or I thought) the admins were going to stop putting lounge posts on the start page. I haven't seen any lately. I'll look again. That would take care of that.

As for the second point, I haven't really run into a lot of that and I certainly hope I haven't been doing it.

11. Ah, I just saw that.
Very cool!!! And I turned off the thing showing all state threads and turned it on only for Texas. WAY cool!

Now, how do I stop sports threads from showing up on the latest threads page?

LOL!

I'm not kidding, but I guess I have to say I am to keep from getting pummeled for that remark!

Been a while since I even checked those. Forgot they were there! (Even took a minute to find them.) Anyway, done and done...and thank you.

10. and as for #2
people aren't supposed to be doing that. Use "alert" liberally, and generally acknowledge that DU's large membership is a strength and a weakness. A lot of chaff with the wheat.

13. I alert the mods when people do that. Especially if they do it against me.
More people ought to. It is against the rules.

Unfortunately, I've also seen a fair amount of aleted posts NOT getting dealt with. Then again, I know the mods are INCREDIBLY busy and have a lot to deal with.

Recriminations are silly. One either copes or leaves. A pity he's choosing to leave.

6. That's beside the point. But it's a matter of conformity.
A pity he'd rather leave, but what's us to do about it? Force him back?
