1. Do you have a good set
of earplugs? 'Cause you'll need them to listen to bagpipes and keep your sanity!!! :P

3. Do people ridicule you for listening to bagpipes?
I went through a bagpipe phase when I was younger, and my parents though I was nuts. Do people think the same about you?

5. No, because all of my friends are either Irish or Scottish to some extent.
They like bagpipes, too.

I just pulled a bunch of tracks off an burned CD I found in the living room.

9. Do You Like Listening to Cats Being Strangled?
Edited on Sun Jan-16-05 08:31 PM by Sporadicus
Even when played by an 'expert,' the bagpipes sound like cats being strangled. The bagpipe is an instrument with no raison d'etre. Since it's no longer used by Scottish armies to intimidate those armies with better taste in music, it has sunk into irrelevance.

On edit: I've got Scottish & Irish ancestry too, but I see no more reason to hang onto such an anachronism than I would expect a Greek person to worship Zeus & Athena.

10. Can't say I like listening to cats being strangled,
though I do like the bagpipes. The tunes are cool, and I can post about it on DU and annoy people.

I jest; I like bagpipe music too - but it has to be exceedingly well-played. :)

13. Have you ever heard
'Itchy Fingers' on the bagpipes?

You'll never see bagpipes in the same way again.

Silver Thistle Pipe and Drums out of Texas...yes Texas...does it, and a very nice 'Carnival Reel' as well.
