Folks, it's COLD here.
When I woke up at 3:00, it was -8 (wind chill was -22), and it's now a blistering -3 (WC -10), with today's predicted high being 11.

:scared:

16. North Wind? Let's Blame Canada!
I say we always blame Canada for cold winters. If that was an ocean up there, it'd be WAY warmer here in January. So, sorry hosers, it's all your fault!

:scared: Yeah, it FINALLY got cold here in Raleigh this weekend (actually had some snow flurries yesterday morning)...right now it's about 27 with a windchill of 18. This is really, really cold compared to us breaking record highs this week in the 70's!

STAY WARM!!!

3. Not pleasant here either, Guajiro
I almost didn't go to work today-especiazlly considering I helped a friend move in the snow yesterday. everyone else who was supposed to show up to help either skipped it or got there very late. I'm just a little cynical about people this morning.

8. I'm wearing an extra 10 pounds of clothes today.
Longjohns, two pairs of socks, boots, courdoroy slacks, cotton T, longsleeve turtle neck, wool sweater....put the liner in my coat, wore a wool watch cap and leather gloves that are lined.

And I wimped out and took a cab from the station to work.

I think it's about 10 right now.

The worst thing was, the garage door got stuck about half-open (because of the cold?) this morning, but when I looked in the rear-view to back up, I couldn't tell. My antenna didn't clear the door and got bent.

The cold weather doesn't just suck because of what it does to your body. It sucks because it makes everything else 10 times as difficult to do.

10. Stay inside
if you can! I know you have plenty to do today for P. We are finally starting to warm up this week but we have been where you are with two big ice storms in the last two weeks. Hopefully the warm weather that is arriving here will make its way to you soon. We are actually going to hit 27 today but it looks like we will have a 50 degree day later in the week, I am so ready. My longjohns are wearing out. Sounds like a great day to huddle up :grouphug:

14. How about a MINUS 44 degrees?
In international Falls, MN. Do people really live there? That was the overnight low. It's warming up right now to MINUS 38.

That makes for a lot of soprano brass monkeys.

Brr.... Its warming up now. ;)

I lived in Terre Haute, IN at one time, and the first year I was there was the coldest temp. ever recorded in the state -- -40 F with wind chill of -70.

I figured god was speaking to me, and moved back to the south.

Minnesota Town Hits 54 Below Zero

Temperatures plummeted across the eastern half of the nation Monday, approaching an all-time record in northern Minnesota and freezing the Gulf Coast as a river of Arctic air pushed southward.

Thermometers registered a low of 54 degrees below zero at Embarrass, Minn.

"You keep living, but it gets old after a while," said Christine Mackai, the town clerk for the community of about 1,400 people in northeast Minnesota.

Minnesota's record is 60 below, set on Feb. 2, 1996, in Tower, about 10 miles north of Embarrass.
