My Furnace is broken, and DAMN it's freaking cold.
The fan in my Furnace went kaput last night, and the house is down to 50 degrees. Got the kids off to school, and wife went to work. And here I sit, shivering. Service guy is on the way, so he says.

Rip-roaring fire in the fireplace has livingroom up to 58 degrees.

Brrrrrrrrrr...

2. At least you've
got a fireplace......

I have a wood burniner in the living room that has been called to service several times.....my old boiler has had just about every working part replaced at least once....my son says I remind him of the Dad in A Christmas Story when it comes to fixing that furnace.

Hope the repairman is reliable!!!!!!

12. Well, the company has been reliable in the past.
They fixed the furnace two winters ago (Bad switch) and then in the spring installed Central Air and an Aprillaire humidifier.

Cheap? Nope, but who is?

5. I went through that last year
What an education. I learned why Americans are fat! It's 'cuz we're so used to having a house that's uniformly warm and because we don't have to lift a finger putting wood in the fireplace or chopping or even bringing it in!!

Anyway, I empathize. I know what you're going through! Good luck on the repairman--mine didn't arrive for three days.

8. Blower motors can be expensive depending on the type.
I hope yours isn't bad, if thats what it is. If you have any questions about the repair, PM me - we have a heating and cooling business.

10. It's a TRANE XL-80 and the blower motor is burnt out
The guy is replacing it now. The blower would not come on since last night. It's red-hot to the touch and smells burnt.

Ah, hell, what's a few hundred more dollars?
