Sleeping with cats. (photos)
Last night when I went to bed (where I always read until I fall asleep), Richard was the first to join me, near my left shoulder.

Then Petey came to me for some lovin', then laid down near the far edge of the bed, below Richard.

Next came Toby, making a brief foray under the covers, then settling, as usual, between my knees.

I'd been reading for a while when suddenly I felt something warm vibrating against my right foot. It was Skittles, one of our foster kittens, purring like mad.

Finally, to my extreme shock, Charley (the former Francie), the other foster, curled up snugly next to my waist. I couldn't believe it -- his obvious comfort there told me he'd done it before when I was sleeping. These semi-feral kittens don't get too close -- usually. Wow.

If I'd had the camera in the bedroom, I would've held it high and tried to get a shot of the bed, with me and five cats.

At least I was warm!

32. He is a ghoul
When I read about how he took stray cats from animal shelters to do his Nazi like experiments on them, I reached a new level of disgust with the Republican Party.
What he did was ghoulish.

16. I think that's right, Richardo.
I wish Cocoa would come to me. Cocoa is Mrs. V.'s special cat, but she doesn't like me much. I know Cocoa is missing her something awful.

14. So many DUers have or have had cats that look like this.
Either classic or bull's eye tabby, black and brown w/ a white snoot. I think it's one of the most beautiful varieties.

They are just precious, Bertha. Cats give good snuggle love.

8. Bertha V....you are a mensch...I have so much
respect for you, taking care of feral cats. Cats that were discarded. To me that is as sacred as those who take in unwanted children, so called "throw away" kids.

Thank you Bertha V. I hope I get to meet you someday. Cats don't love just anyone, you had to earn that love.

:toast: :toast: For all you do for cats in need.

Who knows, perhaps one day we'll get the chance to meet. If you ever visit Washington, DC, let us know. And, I want to visit the Truman Library, and it'd probably be a road trip, and we'd probably go to St. Louis for a visit... Who knows?

Thank you for your kindness.

Here's me under two cats, Mishi and Minou:

24. Oooh! Just found a better pic of them with Mrs Taxloss:
http://groups.msn.com/WilesyIndustries/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=58

Mishi looks like he's awake and washing, but Minou is clearly conked out.

If stroked while half-asleep, Minou would lose all animal dignity and become a total sucker for the hand. He would just stretch, on his back, until he became a white furry sausage, as though he was yelling: "Stroke me! STROKE ME!"

28. I wonder . . .
It seems that way so far, but eight is too many. I am trying to think of ways to make it work. Any ideas?

I wouldn't mind keeping them. But since they allow little contact, I haven't gotten too attached. They are just so cute, though!

29. I finally had to find a bigger bed.
Living alone, when I moved in here I brought along a twin bed. Because it was free. Plenty of room for me, or so I thought. Sharing a small sleeping space with cats changed my mind. I would wake up aching from having slept in weird, twisted, contorted positions to avoid disturbing them and the space they'd claimed.

Not that I'm allowed more space in the bigger bed; there's just still some bed left to settle on!

There's something so comforting about a warm, purring bundle of cat snuggled as close as she can get.

:loveya:

30. I'd be real in trouble if I didn't snore.
I snore so badly that Mrs. V. and I have to sleep apart. It's very sad but we cope. When I lose weight, if that doesn't cure it, I'll have surgery or something. I refuse to sleep apart from my beloved forever.

Anyway, I don't know how it happened but I wound up w/ the bigger bed. So I get most of the cats. When we can sleep together again . . . well, I just hope that wonderful event happens in the summertime, when the cats are looking for spots near windows in which to sleep!

36. When I wasn't sleeping alone,
we only had one cat. She made sure she had her "spot," but one is easier to share with than a crowd! Sending you wishes for a speedy resolution to the snores, so that Mrs. V can rejoin you soon.
