Name a movie that spawned a TV show or vice versa
And for extra credit, name the one's that changed the title: for example "American Grafitti" spawned "Happy Days."

15. right you are! My confusion explained here
Happy Days Originated as a segment on "Love, American Style" (1969).

It is a common belief that American Graffiti (1973) was the inspiration for this series. In actuality, the pilot for the series (seen on "Love, American Style") aired before George Lucas began production for "Graffiti". However, the success of "Graffiti" caused producer Garry Marshall to reconsider his failed pilot and turn "Happy Days" into a series.

Shortly after the original pilot (which aired on "Love, American Style") went unsold, George Lucas released American Graffiti (1973), a theatrical film with a similar nostalgia theme. Its success caused creator Garry Marshall to reconsider his unsold pilot and helped give ABC the greenlight to make "Happy Days" (1974) a series.

10. TV shows that spawned movies is easy
that's all Hollywood seems to do these days. And as for movies that spawned TV shows, if we're going to count those where the TV show was a cartoon, well, that's about all of them too.

Come on! I want to hear about movies that spawned TV shows that were not cartoons, especially where the TV show proved more popular than the film.

14. "Animal House"
spawned at least two or three.
none of them lasted more than a few weeks.
this was in part due to the strength of the original case (Belushi, Karen Allen, Donald Southerland, etc.)

20. Star Wars spawned several
Battlestar Galactica was the most memorable & highest profile. Star Wars also spawned the Buck Rogers movie with Gil Gerard & Erin Grey, which became a TV series.

24. Dragnet --- Two Movies from the TV show.
The original TV show started in the 50's. Then a break and then again in the 60's another break and then again in the 90's.

And there were two movies. One serious with the 60's cast in 1967. And another in 1987 was a comedy with Aykroyd and Hanks.
