Torture by the U.S. Government on Fox's "24"
On last week's "24", a U.S. citizen was tortured by the U.S. government because he was a liberal. Really.

In the show, the neocon Secretary of State (William Devane) is kidnapped by Islamic terrorists and his son Richard is brought in for questioning by CTU. Richard is a liberal who embarrasses his neocon daddy by making public speeches against the administration. So even though it's his own dad who's been abducted, CTU thinks Richard had something to do with it because he is a war protester.

CTU decides to torture Richard to get info, even though he knows nothing. When they bring out their box of torture gear, Richard gets totally hysterical and starts screaming "You can't do this! This is America! This is America! "

The scene was pretty intense and chilling. I thought it was ironic that the U.S. government was far more evil than the liberal war-protesting Richard could even imagine. I think the show is anti-bush, but I'm wondering if righties watch the same show and say, "yeah, that's the way it should be."

24 is on tonight. (Sorry for plugging fox.)
