Mamet slaps the NeoCons in the face with sleeper Spartan
Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 09:50 PM by Tom Yossarian Joad
Just saw this on cable, dated 2004 and had never even heard of it.

Stars Val Kilmer and William H. Macy and kicks serious ass.

All I'll say is it involves the kidnapping of the Pres's daughter and some serious right wing style cover up.

If you haven't seen it, see it. If you have seen it, let me know if you enjoyed it as much as I did.

1. Just saw it too
The "baby" thing got kinda weird after a while, though. :D

3. Yeahhhh... I can see that. The transition from "Seargent, etc." to
baby and the other endearment was a little to sudden and probably a poorly chosen term.

(I'm overlooking that part, LOL).

Liked the other Mother part a lot, though.

2. Alexandra Kerry plays the bartender.
And she flirted well, too!

4. That was Alexandra Kerry?
No shit? She was kinda hot and did a good job for a bit part as in she was memorable.

5. I liked it a lot
The kidnapped daughter struck me as a slightly fictionalized version of one of the Bush twins. More info and speculation in this old thread:

6. Thanks for the link. I missed that one completely.
Interesting reviews.

My own thoughts are Kilmer did a good job and that the Studio botched things in cutting for time in the fact that

*************SPOILER ALERT********************************

Kilmer never went to check on his partner. I don't believe Mamet would have let that go in the script or original filming.

7. VERY good flim
Makes strong statements sort of under the radar. Kilmer does some really good stuff that doesn't go big box office but should. This is one of his best.
