Something scary happened at my old job
I sometimes go to work there to make extra cash and my mom works there to supplement her regular income. It's a medical billing office and I guess they billed a guy more than once. So he gets all mad and threatens to shoot up the office. So the cops go and talk to him and he calls the office manager and says "I'm not done with you". So they took out a restraining order and have pictures of him in every cubicle. It's so scary.

1. Damn, that is scary.
I would suggest alternative sources of extra income ( and your mom should not be there either).

5. I presume the office has corrected the multiple billing error too, right?
That will probably make a super-stressed out individual feel a whole lot better I would guess.

6. They would have done it anyway
All the person has to do is bitch and they'll fix it. There's no need to threaten them with death!

7. I agree. This person went waaaaaaaay over the top
He may be a total lunatic OR he just may be feeling totally overwhelmed with whatever his problems are (and feeling a lack of empathy/understanding/sympathy).

8. I hear this a lot from places I service... medical facilities
of various types...

Threats and violence against medical workers seem to be increasing, but no one I am aware of has studied it.

Unless a bunch of people get shot, you can't get any MSM coverage... no one in MSM wants to hear that X-ray techs, Lab techs, nurses and such are getting beaten by patients on a regular basis.

Certainly not the AMA whose members employe such people, and foot the bill for WC cases.

10. Wow! Is that true? Lab techs, nurses are getting beaten by PATIENTS?

X-ray techs, Lab techs, nurses and such are getting beaten by patients on a regular basis.

They must not be very physically sick then. I mean, how could a physically sick patient "beat up" a (presumably) healthy health-care worker....and this happens OFTEN?????

What??? Huh?????

on edit: adding, and why would patients do this?????

11. Yes, this is true, and they cannot fight back, because most
hospitals have policies against "patient abuse" not to mention the ethics involved.

why?

booze, drugs, sociatal ambivalance, moral superiority... you name it

and yes, even those who are physically sick can injure someone... beat up was perhaps too over the edge... assaulted would be more apt

9. State workers comp office
had to have full time state patrol at their front counter because of all the threats to workers. (Washington State)
They have had problems with people from the RW groups that espouse no taxes, no social security numbers and they insist the state constitution is illegal and other beliefs.

My sister works there so I am glad there is protection BEFORE something awful happens.
