I know where the person was coming from. It's just funny to me because the way they were using the BB gun should have been harmless. I have an odd sense of humor I admit.

I actually just saved a stray puppy from an owl attack this summer. The owl was trying to fly off with the pup and dropped it I ran out when I heard the pup yelping and brought it in.

13. The Puppy had some pretty deep wounds on it's back.

Owls have very long sharp talons. It looked like it had dropped it before and picked it up by the number of wounds. The vet fixed him up and I gave him to my dad.

They are hunters and don't belong in residential areas.

I should clarify that I thought the idea of the poster shooting the other unsympathetic poster in the rump (my mental picture) was funny. I know it's not, but it made me laugh. I'm not a mean person really. I just know what it feels like to be attacked by unsympathetic people.

8. I was attacked by an owl once when I was a kid.

I had a kitten in my hands and it was late at night in our backyard. I don't have the "owl sympathy" you all do. They can be mean fuckers and they're big. Not those little tiny cute things, you imagine that have the big blinking eyes. No, some owls are really large and not nice.

People have lost an eye when they have interfered with Great Horned Owls, even experienced photographers have. I don't think going after them with a popgun is wise unless you want to make them really, really mad. But nor do I think most of the adventures described in the thread really happened.

A "depredation" permit is probably not spelled "deprivation" in the Fish and Wildlife literature, for just one tiny clue.
