I'm getting a new dog on Saturday!
I can't wait, I can't wait. Our older dog died in November and the three of us (bf, boy dog, and me) have been lonely ever since. We found just the right mix on Petfinder.com. I am flying to Michigan on Thursday and picking her up on Saturday. I am so geeked! She is a cocker/golden mix, between four and six years old, and has the same name (Bonnie) as the stuffed dog we bought for our lonely boy dog. We will finally have the right dog/people ratio again (one to one.)

5. What's her name?
We are going to stick with the name Bonnie, but I always love hearing the names people give their pets. Our other dog is named Gordie.

8. Heidi! A nice "Scots" name chosen by my grandchildren---
who were quite young at the time. (obviously)

Heidi is a Sheltie,as was Bonnie.

9. Wow, interesting
My other dog is Gordie. My mother's cousin is also named Gordie, and his wife is named Heidi, so I couldn't really go with that.

10.  I would love someone to name their beloved dog after me but
the Heidi and Gordie combo would probably make a few of your family members unconfortable.

Good luck with your new pup(they are always pups to me)

I always thought if I got another dog I would call it Fido or Rover just to be a little campy.

6. Awesome! And petfinder.com rules.
We've place 90% of our rescues via petfinder.com

Also, big THANK YOU for adopting a dog who's just a little bit older. They've tougher to place.

7. Petfinder is the best....
I heard that dog adoptions had at least doubled through its use.

I would adopt locally, but they only seem to have pit bull mixes and border collies. We want a particular mix and this is the second dog we have found that way.

11. It's great that you are getting an adult dog.
Sounds like an excellent mix of dog temperment-wise.

13. Yes, it is a great mix
In 1988 we adopted two cocker-golden mix puppies. They were so adorable and I can't believe they are both gone now. When the boy died, we adoped another boy who was much younger than the female. We found him online and I put in cocker-golden mix for him - I turned up a dog that claimed to be that mix! The picture of him was just of his nose and eyes because he was so excited.

When he arrived (from Wyoming) he turned out to be pretty much as advertised, except he has collie-long hair and a curly tail! (He is really adorable.) The new one, Bonnie, looks much more like the older dogs did. She was standing still, and there were three pictures of her. She looks loveable and mellow, which the others all have been (well, the puppies took a while to grow into being mellow, but they got there.) And they are all sweet.
