Right, ya'll.. I'm losin' it here. Am I going finally going nuts?
It started an hour or so ago with the "Do you remember" thread, and someone (Trof, I think it was) posted about having a pair of skates that strapped onto shoes. When I was reading it, I got the most vivid picture in my head of the pair that I had when I was a kid, even down to the sound that they made.

Then a few minutes ago, I saw the post asking who was in the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. I immediately flashed back to the feel and smell of the fabric of my Brownie uniform, and to the texture & weight of the Girl Scout pin I used to wear on it.

Am I losing my MIND? These are things I haven't thought about in almost 40 years. I can't remember things from last week, so how the hell come I'm remembering what a freaking Girl Scout pin felt like?

8. But that's my normal spelling of it.
Unless, of course, I spell it "Y'all."

But the "ya'll" spelling is more reminiscent of the belles I went to high school with and despised thoroughly for their oh-so-perfect ways, so I usually spell it that way. It reminds me of the way they intentionally dragged out every single word they drawled. :D

11. it's just a long-standing peeve of mine
I get grief for it from some of the other Lounge-lizards. I have been known to go off on rants about how the apostrophe goes where the missing letter or letters would be. :)

12. You are absolutely right, and I sit corrected.
I should be ashamed of myself, because I've been known to scream at signs & ads that use "it's" as a possessive.

7. Nah, you're just a geezette.
It's like me remembering my first phone number while reading the replies.
It just jumped into my head.
7-4014.
And I can't remember the last guy's name I just met at a cocktail party.
Our brains start doing better on old data rather than new data.
Fact of life.
And not all that unpleasant.

13. Short-term memory is the second or third thing to go.
:) we won't discuss the first.

Long-term memory takes the lead as you get older. Ex: You can remember your high school locker combination, but what did you have for breakfast yesterday morning??
