1. I can tell you what my retired parents are doing.
They are spending the winter on South Padre, as they always do.

When not on South Padre, they go to the gym every morning for their walk, they go fishing, they visit friends, they go out to lunch, they visit grandchildren, grandchildren visit them, they look at TV, they do a little travelling, my mom sews and quilts, my dad golfs, they have backyard barbecues, they go to concerts, they relax, they read. That sort of thing. :)

2. I can tell you what they are doing here in So. AZ...........
I live and work in a retiree community..............

They play golf, bridge, swim, try to feel like they are 50 again.

They want to feel like they are a part of the 'living' generation so instead they become involved in non-profit orgs to feel they are worthwhile once again in their lives

DU, gardening, playing with the dog, watching Deep Space 9 reruns, volunteer work with Stewpot (feeding program) and Hispanic Services.

Also, sleeping as long and as late as I choose. Thats nicest of all. And, at 50, I have plenty of time left to enjoy it.
