"Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty.... |
|
is one of the best songs ever. I've loved it since it was released and I was eight years old then.

2. I've said this for YEARS |
|
and finally someone agrees with me. I was 9 when it was popular (1978) and it makes me feel great every time I hear it. Pretty much reminds me of the last responsibility-free time of my life, and maybe that's why the song's so important to me.

I was thirteen when it came out, and that's pretty much all I listened to that entire summer. My stepdad liked it too and bought the album, we listened to that also over and over. But "Baker Street" was always my favorite from that time.

For me, it was the year my parents both remarried as soon as the ink was dry on the divorce decree.

I wore out his albums when I was in college. So good to hear someone *much* younger loves his music too!

I've enjoyed it ever since it came out - the year my daughter was born.

7. I always found it kind of depressing. |
|
Good song musically, but the words always made me sad.

8. When my uncle attempted suicide, he left the words to that song |
|
as a suicide note.
I have absolutely no idea why.
He's still alive, though.

13. Have you heard the Foo Fighters' version? |
|
Pretty straightforward.
"Right Down the Line" is good, too.

The sax soloing gets all the attention, but the tasteful guitar solo deserves a mention. Sad song, but quite good for a mainstream rock/pop hit. Of course, this was the same guy who was one half of Stealer's Wheel ("Stuck In The Middle With You").
