No Room at the inn - check this out
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 04:30 AM by Must_B_Free
I was staying at Amerisuites @ Northpoint mall in Alpharetta, GA.

Last night I was getting bit by a bug as soon as I layed down, but I was dead tired and gave it the benefit of the doubt.

So Tonight I am trying to sleep and I am getting more bites, at about 1:00 AM. I called the front desk and no one was there. I call the Amerisuites 1-800 number and they transferred me to guest services which has an answering machine and says they'll call me in the morning. So I called prime rewards who I booked through and go through the phone menu, but it transfers me to a brief busy signal then disconnects.

So I called another location - Amerisuites at Peachtree and he tried to get the manager of the hotel I'm at for me. He can't reach my hotel's manager. About 1/2 hour later he calls back and he is sold out, so he sends me down to Amerisuites at Exit 5 (further south from where I work). As I'm leaving there is no one at the front desk, just a plastic sign that say "helping other guests, will return soon"

So I drive down to exit 5 and I see Amerisuites on the blue road sign and I take the exit, then on the exit ramp I see another blue sign, pointing me to the left 0.8 mi for hotels. So I go left and can't find the place. The area is Perimeter Mall it's a hugely obvious area. I called the new hotel and he says take such and such road. I said I don't know where that is, anbd I tell him where I am. He says he doesn't know where that is and all he can tell me is take such and such road. So I start naming landmarks and he asks do you have a reservation? I say "yeah I'm the guy who was getting bit by bugs at the Northpoint location and the Peachtree manager called you and told you I was coming." He was incapable of telling me how to get there, so I called the 800 number again and that girl in Illinois was unable to tell me how to get there.

So I say I'm just going to go back up to where I work and get a place that I know is clean. So I get back up to exit 11 and everything is sold out.

So even if I can find a place, it's already 4:30 and it is doubtful that it is even worth it at this point.

Fuck Amerisuites. I will never stay there again.

1. These news stories will NOT make you feel better

Hotel bedbugs is a BIG problem...and even in "nice hotels".. You should at LEAST be given a complete refund...and you might even see a doctor.. You CAN get infections from their bites.. They feed off the discarded skin cells of thousands of nameless/faceless people.. Who knows what irritants you have "under your skin"..

4. That is disgusting.
Prior to the television news, I had never seen one, and thank heavens, on the news, they were very tiny.

2. Before you go home, check your luggage for bedbugs.
Check carefully.

It was on the news several weeks ago that people who slept in hotels with bedbugs could transport them home in their luggage.

From what I could tell, the bedbugs were black (or very dark) and about the size of a tick.

Maybe you can spend the next few hours before work sorting through your luggage.

Be careful.
