49. I did ok....
I knew someone who knew someone, kind of scenario, and that got me in the door for an interview. It's a good way to start, networking and letting people know you are looking. Good luck to you, I know it is a rough time to be job-hunting. My husband has been looking for a job in his field since May... there aren't too many entry-level things around right now, it seems.

I know it's not much comfort now, but sometimes it's the best thing that could happen. When I was laid off, it completely changed my life for the better--new goals, new opportunities, a whole new outlook. You'll grieve this like a death but good things can come of it. Stay hopeful.

But we got hit especially hard since we represented a lot of the venture capital dot-commers and never really recovered when they bubble burst.

The legal market will get much better- we were just especially hard hit because we represented a lot of the venture capital dot-com types and never recovered when things went south. Good luck with law school! :) I'm trying to be upbeat, already got some nibbles after posting my resume on monster.com so we'll see :)

It's happened to me, twice. Burnish up the old resume. Check out Monster.com. Best advice, and how I got a new job. If you are at a professional or mangerial level, contact some headhunters. They will go to work for you, and it doesn't cost a dime, as they are paid by the companies they recruit for. Get your librarian to help you find them.

Good luck.
