Poll question: what's become of your hand-writing since email/pc's took over?
seems like the art of actually putting marks on paper by hand is becoming rather lost, even for those of us who grew up before the pc revolution, aside from scribbling notes here & there.

how is your penmanship holding up?

2. It really makes me sick.
My handwriting used to be so neat and artistic and now it is halting and ugly. I almost have to think hard to sign my name. With RA writing is a bit difficult when there is a lot of it to be done so the computer has saved me that but now it only takes a little bit of writing for my joints to start screaming.

4. After spending two years at a job that was all computers
I moved into a lending job that involved taking hand-written applications and doing a lot of hand-calulations. My hand had become seriously "untrained." I could write, but it was slow and awkward and extremely, extremely messy. I would have to pause every few minutes because I had forgotten the proper way that the squigly on the letter "q," for instance, went.

9. I've heard that complaint a lot
I try to avoid spell-check for that very reason... that, and its occasional replacing of a word with an un-intended one

for example, the name Rodney getting changed to 'rodent' :P

8. Mine was shit to begin with.
Now I can write things down and not have to worry about anyone else reading them when I am not present. The security is in many ways TIGHTER than on my computer.

11. haha! No kidding
I pity the fool who has to read one of my scratched notes. I can be neat for others, but when writing notes to myself they are as cryptic as the best CIA encryption :)

14. I had a pretty fair "hand' once…
…now it's “chicken-scratchings”. I noticed it in the last few weeks when I started re-reading some of the Patrick O'Brien Aubrey/Maturin books (Master and Commander, ya' know) and was taking notes on sailing terms and antiquated language (to look up later). My penmanship has become a disgrace!

So, I'm making an effort now to get it back. :)

15. I got some big old gorrilla hands.....(so a guy at work told me)
I never wrote too well and unless I have a big thick pen my hands cramp up alot. The best thing about the computer is that I have learned to type! I communicate much more than I would without a pc.

17. VEDDY INTERESTING!
I use the computer for music notation but transcribe first by hand. It's MUCH QUICKER and allows me to format before dicking with the program that has WAY TOO MUCH information and is finicky about the ORDER in which certain tasks are done.

I do indulge in long-hand snail mail correspondence.

Computers are GREAT for corrections and editing.

20. my writing has improved
I often find things on the 'net I want to copy down. Unless it's a long article, I write it down rather than print it out.

Before the computer, I went for days without writing anything.

24. My writing has become so bad I can't read my Secretary's typing!
BTW: "Executive Secretary" is the title she prefers so don't bother with the comments about it being chauvinistic, degrading etc.

25. My handwriting has never been very good.
Did you know I was the only kid in the 7th grade who did not get a Penmanship Certificate? That is a true story. And my handwriting has only gone downhill since. With the advent of PC's, it is damn near unintelligible!
