33. Okay, then - here's my list..........
"Things Fall Apart" - Chinua Achebe

"Life of Pi" - Yann Martel

"Accordion Crimes" - E. Annie Proulx

"Bird by Bird" - Anne Lamott

"She's Come Undone" - Wally Lamb

All Fiction - all books that come to my mind from time-to-time.

Let me know what you finally decide upon. Perhaps it would be one

that I would add to my collection as well.

Happy Book-Hunting!

36. Ooh -- you listed some of my faves there
"Things Fall Apart" - Chinua Achebe

"Life of Pi" - Yann Martel

Both really really really excellent works.

Funny about She's Come Undone. People either loved it or hated it. I fall in the latter camp.

39. Did you read Lamb's second book?
I liked that one as well. I can understand why people wouldn't like "She's Come Undone". The protagonist could be a 'disturbing' character for many reasons, but I ended up liking her. I could relate to some of the feelings she was having.
What other books would you recommend? Do you belong to a bookclub?

13. It's good, but
only along the same level as The Third Chimpanzee was good. Nowhere near Guns, Germs, and Steel level.

Speaking of which, if anyone on Earth hasn't read Guns, Germs, and Steel, go and buy it now. Please.

You might find Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed
by Jared Diamond of interest. It's very well written, interesting - and something that may point to some dangers we're facing.

Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 09:39 PM by hyphenate
It's a tad expensive, but once you read it, you will never have patience again for anything that comes out of a repuke's mouth.

Amended: it's a quartet, boxed-set, not a trilogy.
