I just had the best day of my career - and I'm gonna tell you about it.

When I went to work...the odd thing was I had a feeling that it would be a big day. I got to work and heard the newsreport that a local village had been hit by ice flows and flooding. I told my boss I wanted to go down there.... he sent TWO of us down.
I got there and it looked like the columbian ice flows...36 homes and 200 people had been evacuated. The whole drive down I was listening to network...we run a three hour network program that was doing extended coverage of BC disasters today because the whole province was a terrible mess. The host mentioned the village and said they were waiting for a report (My report ..yay!) ...my instructions were to call the show AS SOON as I got there. So I did, and did a preliminary interview live. Then phoned in a polished report. A well known local news anchor told me I was a good man for doing this - and coached me through a bit.
And throughout the day my reports were going to network as our studio guy explained the situation.
Because we had two reporters there...we killed EVERYONE. We attacked the story like wolf on a rabbit and tore it to pieces. EVERY ANGLE WAS COVERD. No one touched us. It went national, regional ..alll over BN.
We got a kudos from the netowrk host and when I finally got back to the station the manager just looked at me and said, "That sounded great."
As well the network news director phoned in compliments.
My boss gave the other reporter and I the company credit card for dinner and some beers.

Now, I'm relaxing with a well-deserved glass of Glenmorangie SIngle Malt Scotch (Port wood finish).
