Where does serenity come from? >
And why should gaining it take a lifetime atop a mountain wearing sackcloth and chanting OHM?

I'm a modern guy with timeless needs. Gimme some now or I'll just keep hurting myself in its stead.

5. Self-knowledge and acceptance.
As a recovering alcoholic I can tell you it is know yourself and your own demons, acceptance of your shortcomings and that of others, and acceptance that everyone has a path that should be honored. When we know these things and quit struggling with things we have no control over we let go and are truly free. This is the beginning of serenity and it's a peaceful place to be. No judgments, no should be's, no expectations, just acceptance for creation and the created. Blessed be.

7. It comes naturally, from within.
Don't beat it down with anything petty or non-spiritual in importance.

Think King, Mandela or Reeves, or some shit like that. You'll get it, if you give.
