Great movie villains
We all know the villain is who we go to the movies to see. They give the hero a reason to struggle on. Bad villain, bad movie. So who are your favorite villains. I'll kick it off with a great villain from a movie not too well known in the US. Bijomoru from the movie Azumi. Possibly the most over the top villain ever.

11. From the 007 films --
-- the Russian (?) villain Blowfeldt (sp?).

Cigarette holder, white cat on his lap, of conspicuously blurred gender, and nearly always nattily dressed in gray, machine-like clothes, Blowfeldt was like FDR in drag.

2. Kakihara from "Ichi the Killer"

Also very over the top...slits from mouth corner to mid-cheek, with the corners of his mouth held together by piercings, which he would remove, for reasons I'll leave you to speculate on...

9. Daniel Day Lewis as Bill the Butcher in "Gangs of New York"
DDL made a terrific villain out of his character -- and he gave this monster a bit of a human dimension in the process. Simply outstanding acting.

14. Re my earlier post in this thread on 007 villains...

I screwed up the spelling on the SPECTRE-affiliated villain, Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

Wikipedia has an alarmingly extensive treasure trove of information on Blofeld and I include that site here --

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bond

-- for the absolutely huge Ernst Stavro Blofeld community here on DU.
