Of course it's a coincidence. The Muslim calendar is lunar, not solar, and the Islamic year has about 354 days. Hajj is earlier every year, and moves backwards with respect to the Gregorian calendar (as do Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, etc), due to the difference.
