Dumb question...how can I get a screen shot from a DVD?
I tried to get some last night by hitting the PrintScreen button and then pasting it to Paint. I saved a picture but when I clicked on the saved file it came up all black...any pointers, anyone?

1. Try this.
Hit Alt then Print Screen.

Paste into Paint.

You should be good to go.

2. download snagit software
or do a search for DVD screen capture - there are a lot of packages out there and even some freeware.

3. I use CyberLink PowerDVD to do my DVD captures
There's a long (and confusing) explanation of why "Print Screen" will NOT capture frames from your media player. Suffice it to say that Print Screen cannot extract a frame from a DVD.

PowerDVD can, simply by pressing the "C" key. It dumps the captures into a folder of your choice, which you can review later.

There are other programs that will do this. PowerDVD is the one I like.

4. The programs I use in my computer
..come with a "snapshot" button. Most of them do I believe. While watching the movie you just click on it and it saves it as a bitmap.
What program are you using to watch DVDs?

5. Another problem you may encounter
Which I have trying to take Screen shots in power DVD. Well, it's the same problem, but the solution is to turn down the hardware acceleration for your display.

Whatever works between none and full.
