George W. Bush: Every Bad Stereotype of the South rolled into one man |
|
And he's from the freaking north!
He's not even a real person, he's a freaking caricature. REAL cowboys don't need to wear boots to a black tie affair to make themselves feel like men. His crappy accent is infuriating. He is ignorant and PROUD of that fact. He is "religious"-but not really. He's a closet racist. He's willing to subvert science to fundamentalism.
Every single bad stereotype about the south can be found in his nasty chimpy body.

2. Not only is he from the North, he's from CT! |
|
The western side of CT is nothing but the top 1% of Americans. You have pockets of poor people in Bridgeport and Danbury/Bethel (Hey someone has to man the gas stations, movie theatres etc), but it's pretty much rich people's heaven. Thank God, eastern CT balances it out.

I lived in Fairfield County, and you've nailed Western CT. That's exactly what it's like.

6. Yeah, and I only spent a summer there |
|
I interned for Westport Country Playhouse this past summer and they housed us in Ridgefield. I got a good taste of what it was like out there. I could have added Stamford, but it's half and half there. Most corporate headquarters per capita! If I ever had to live in Western CT, I'd probably settle down in Stamford. It seemed more mixed and I liked the downtown. The Avon is a pure jewel for movie going. I enjoyed my summer, but man was it an eye opener to how the top 1% lives. I always wondered why the congregated.

3. Thank you for pointing out he is not a Southerner.... |
|
And thank you, also, for pointing out that all those things are stereotypes. Meaning....real Southerners don't necessarily embody those qualities.

7. No, we have many Southerners here on DU that disprove every one of those |
|
stereotypes.
I bring up the point, not to bash the South, but to suggest that Bush himself is bashing the South by encouraging the myths.

4. he's not everything wrong with the SOUTH... |
|
...but with American in GENERAL. The arrogance, intellectual laziness, cruelty, greed, etc., are not characteristics of those from the South, but from ALL OVER America. He's the living avatar of everything that is wrong with America.

8. Yes, but he portrays himself as strictly Southern. |
|
Even though he is not. He portrays himself as the quintessential Southern male. I think it's an insult to all Southerners that he sees them as such.
