Recommend some good "new release" movies to me.
I like horror and thrillers, but don't care much for romance or comedy.

I'm updating my Netflix queu. :hi:

1. "Shaun of the Dead"
Abso-freakin-lutely hilarious ... especially if you like horror movies and thrilles--you'll get most of the inside jokes and allusions to other movies.

2. I second "Shaun of the Dead"
I usually don't like thrillers...but I loved "Shaun". Interesting characters, great story....and funny as hell!

terrya gives this film a

4. My kid has been wanting to see that.
Is it ok for a kid to watch? He's eleven.

5. The language is more of a consideation than the gory stuff.
If you don't have a problem with that...some "fucks" are used, but it's not "Goodfellas" in term of language....:-)

If you're ok with it, it's fine.

6. I think an 11 year-old would be more bored than anything

It really isn't scary, and isn't really funny in the way a kid would enjoy. It's very similar to "The Office" in terms of its humor--a good mix of clever writing combined with the occassional sight gag.

3. "house of sand and fog"
not really new release though. not a horror, kind of thrilleresque.

it does have Jennifer Connelly in it. that's why i recommend it.

i've heard "saw" is really freaky. dont think its out yet though.

9. That's the most massively depressing mainstream flick in years.
I think it's an incredible film, but I will NEVER see it again.
