Well, at that time what existed was LPs. 25 minutes of music at each side, tops.
Now we have dual layer DVDs holding 9 GB and MP3 compression -- one minute per megabyte. Doing the math...
Cool! A week-long song! :crazy:

There was that Todd Rundgren LP called Initiation, heavily proggie, where the second side was entirely given over to an instrumental suite that clocked in at some 36 minutes. Todd's liner notes mentioned that you should make sure your stylus wasn't worn, else it would erode the grooves. I don't know anything (rock) on LP that's longer.

it's too bad we don't have musicians of that caliber any more, putting out of music of that interest and complexity and wondrousness.
Now it's all songs, and mostly short ones.
Imagine what Floyd could have done with 168 hours!

I find it wondrous even without the drugs.
And I don't think I could stay high or drunk for that long anyway.
And just imagine the fuckin' concerts!!!

So... would it be called Extreme Prog or Prog Extreme? and would there be a counter-revolution (like with punk at the end of the 70s) called Minimally Prog?
