In front of an Anti-Bush crowd, I had my first feminist speech
Today, on the date of Bush's inauguration, I made a speech in front of hundreds of people. I knew naught that I would be going up there, so I had no time to prepare other than the 15 minuets I was waiting in line.

Here's what I said:

"My name is *Insert my name here*, and I represent Glacier Middle School.
I would like to remind you of Bob Dylan's song, The Times They Are A-Changin'. In it, he says: Come writers and critics who prophecies with your pen. I am a junior writer, and I do not prophecies with my pen nor do I want to. But others do, like Margaret Atewood. She wrote the Handmaidens tale, a story about what would happen if God and government were the same, God and government are becoming the same, and I say, if women loose freedom of their bodies and their wombs, then they have lost their freedom of country, and children."

No so bad for a middle schooler.

4. If you were my daughter,
I'd be so damn proud of the job I'd done raising you, I'd just float away.

Kudos to you, Mini. Not bad for a middle schooler, indeed. That's a speech any adult would be proud to call his or her own.

You're not a junior writer anymore, my dear. Take it from a published novelist (me): you're a pro.

:::: wild applause :::::
