Hummer-driving halfwit scalds her with Starbucks
bh

A hulking Boston bodyguard was arrested yesterday, accused of hurling a scalding Starbucks coffee at a meter maid who slapped a ticket on his illegally parked Hummer in the Back Bay.

The alleged attack unfolded about 8:30 a.m. when Christi Noviello, 44, was walking her Berkeley and Boylston streets beat and saw the black Hummer parked in a loading zone with a woman in the passenger seat.

3. that's right by here
the poor thing... aLthough i've wanted to do the same thing at times. the maids are fucking vuLtures! they piLe on the tickets too - it's not enough to ticket you for an expired meter, they'LL throw on an expired registration and/or inspection sticker ticket too.

10. some people are obsessed with following RULES
these are the same people that would go whine to the teacher everytime little johnny did something they didn't like. Meter maids are there for revenue generation. Now as far as the guy with the Hummer, he was an asshole and needs a good ass kicking. Just because one person gets in a fight with another doesn't mean you have to take a side.

6. Even so, would you *really* be offended...
if you got a ticket for being illegally parked in a loading zone? And even if you were offended, would you acutally throw your cup of coffee at the person?

I doubt it. You seem much more reasonable than that.

9. not at aLL
i don't even get upset when i get a ticket - they're doing their job. i just hate the "vuLture" styLe they work. i understand they're out to make money (that is their intention - if you go across the river to cambridge the meter maids don't piLe on the tickets Like that) but boston is the onLy pLace i get tickets for an inspection sticker from a meter maid.

14. Could be because Boston is such a congested area and
traffic enforcement is not just a money maker, but a public safety issue.

15. the piLing on of tickets doesn't soLve the congestion probLem
though. 1 ticket is bad enough, but to comeback with your venti Latte and find 3 tickets - that just sucks!!!

i've gotten tickets for non parking vioLations whiLe i was parked LegaLLy and that just pisses me off to no end - why even bother paying the meter then (i know, it's another $30) and moving your car to another bLock every hour (yes, they now ticket you for not moving to another meter on another bLock every hour).

17. Well, yes it does if it serves as a deterrent for people to do
that. And as for getting slammed for an expired reg or inspection, that should always be automatic.

It is in NYC.

Believe me, I know it sucks to get hammered. The fact is cars are not necceissity items in cities like Boston and NY.
As such, you are at the mercy of the traffic weenies when using one.

18. true
i don't drive here ever anymore, save for after hours or hoLidays.

as for the tags, i obviousLy disagree. they have cops specificaLLy to enforce those, and reguLar cops who can puLL you over for it. meter maids shouLd do parking vioLations onLy.

27. That is fine to disagree, but tel me, is it not true that operating a
vehicle in MA with an expired Reg or Insp is unlawful?

I mean even parking it on the street and not operating it in NY is against the law.

And if the vehicle is, as well, illegally parked, I would think Meter Maids have the obligation legally to write those summons.

I could be wrong.

29. i suppose it is "unLawfuL"
but so is jay waLking.
for that matter, many things are "unLawfuL" but some won't put you in jaiL - expired tags won't put you in jaiL.

anytime you drive w/ expired tags you risk getting puLLed over. getting ticketed after avoiding driving through hot spots and putting the wiper over your sticker is shitty. you shouLd be rewarded for avoiding getting caught by a reaL cop.

these two sisters, twins, took it upon themselves to drive around in an old mail cart dressed as fairies plugging meters with money if they were about to expire.

but causing second-degree burns is legal, if you can afford a Hummer?

24. The woman mentioned was just the passenger.
The owner of the Hummer, the man who parked illegally and threw the coffee, WAS named in the article.

28. I assumed they referred to him that way because he owns
a security company. I just didn't want to be so quick to condemn the passenger; she wasn't the one who illegally parked the vehicle or threw coffee on the meter maid. I was guessing she was the girlfriend. There could be any number of reasons why she didn't move the vehicle when asked. Maybe the man had the keys, or she didn't know how to drive.
