Wishing away the Shrub presidency...
I know people are saying cheer up, it's only four years, 14XX days left, yadda, yadda...but the truth of the matter is, I don't WANT the next four years just to speed on by.

I have little children, just three and five. I don't want to spend these innocent years of their childhood wishing the time away. By the time that vermin is out of office, my kids will be 21, 9, and 7. It seems such a short time, but I don't want my kids to have an unhappy, bitter mother.

What can I do - in a positive way, that sets a good example for my kids - besides just writing to congresspeople and the occasional LTTE? Somehow, I have to know that I can make a difference somewhere on the political chain, and give myself (and my family) something to be proud of and something to hope for.

1. Pray for the rapture
The way Cheny is rattling sabres about Iran and WMD's now. I saw an interview recently that asked Bush, "How do you think you'll be remembered in history?"

His response was, "What? I don't really care. I'll be dead."

The problem with the self fulfilling Wolfowitz doctrine is, it fits right in with the concept of armageddon. I hate self-fulfilling prophecy.

and it sux being so damn depressed about it too. yesterday just brought it all back again :(

i guess all we can really do (besides what you stated above) is to be a good liberal example to others, our children, friends and family ... and keep fighting the good fight.

5. Here's a serious suggestion ...
You might see what you can do to help local Democratic candidates. They are almost always short of help both volunteer and financial. You can at least make a good impact on your community.

Or you can do what my husband and I decided to do. We are following the lead of our president and substituting our own version of the universe in place of reality. We have decided that Jedd Bartlett is our current president.
