Poll question: Steak
I won't eat any steak that is above medium-rare. I like mine rare - enough to be dripping a little blood, but not quite blue.

BTW - contrary to popular belief, for any non-ground beef, it's perfectly safe to just sear the outside of the cut and let the inside stay raw, because dangerous bacteria (read: e. coli) are found only on the surface of the steak (again, only if it's NOT GROUND). This is because the bacteria is transferred to your steak only due to poor handling - e. coli does not live in the blood and thus never gets into the flesh.

For chicken (salmonella) and other meats, on the other hand... make sure it's cooked all the way through, dammit.

4. Eat Steak
Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.

Cowpokes'll come from a near and far
When you throw a few rib-eyes on the fire
Roberto Duran ate two before a fight
'Cause it gave a lot of mighty men a lot of mighty might

Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.

Eat meat, eat meat, filet mignon
Eat meat, eat meat, ear it all day long
Eat a few T-bones till you get your fill
Eat a new york cut, hot off the grill

Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.

Eat a cow, eat a cow 'cuase it's good for you
Eat a cow, eat a cow it's the thing that goes "Mooooo"

Look at all the cows in the slaughterhouse yeard
Gotta hit'em in the head, gotta hit'em real hard
First you gotta clean'em then the butcher cuts'em up
Throws it on a scale throws an eyeball in a cup

Saw a big Brangus Steer standing right over there
So I rustled up a fire cooked him medium rare
Bar-B-Q'ed his brisket, a roasted his rump
Fed my dog that ol' Brangus Steer's hump

Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.

count to 10, flip it, count to 10, serve.

That would be as rare as a Democrat in Alabama.

But thanks for posting it - that was the first thing I thought of when I saw "Steak" as a poll.

Of course, if I were here when it was posted, I might have slipped it in before you did :)

7. I am a vegetarian
But I do miss the savory taste of petit filet just barely medium-rare. Don't fill up on salad, but give me an extra side of garlic mashed potatoes.

17. Where I live we get Natural Beef (organic)
I partake of tenderloin (filet) or some other nice cut once or twice a year. My parents operated a meat processing plant for years and it's hard to abandon..

11. I cringe when I hear someone order a steak well done
They may as well be eating a baseball mitt. Not that I mind what people eat, but a well done cooked steak has no flavor left and gets pretty tough imo.

32. Especially when it's a GOOD cut of steak!
My sister will go out and have the filet mignon, well done.

ARGH!!!! WHY?!?!?!?!

Once you "well done" it, your filet is just as tender and juicy as the chuck.

my steak medium.

38. I raised cattle as a kid and here's my opinion of steak
Steers(Castraited males)make the best steaks and beef products in general.
Our homeraised cows(steers or cows) made the best steaks I've ever eaten and in fact I rarely eat steak at a restaurant because it just cost alot with no great benefits.
