Thoughts on bashing

There has been a lot of bashing on DU. Certain groups of people, certain organizations, certain societies, seem to be getting the brunt of pent up rage, hatred, and frustration. The bashing seems to consist of exclusive groups. Secret Groups. Groups that push "others" out. Groups that are not inclusive.

I don't think its a bad thing. There is a common thread among organizations and groups that get bashed here (usually). These groups are not inclusive. They exclude to make themselves better or more powerful or prove who they are.

I think it is crappy when we generalize and bash all "Christians" or "republicans." But there are elements in these huge umbrella names who truly do need to be taken down a peg and shown that they are not better. Shown that they are equal to their fellow man. Made to realize they are not going to heaven just cause they believe one thing over another.

I just wish some DUers would stop generalizing and lumping all people together. Be specific about who you are bashing. The Evangelical Pro-Bush Zealots, Tali-born-agains or something more specific is a better term then "Christians." And a lot funnier.

I love venting out my frustration and anger on people who push their agenda on me, or make me less of a human for being Jewish or Gay. But we turn just as bad when we generalize and bash everyone who is "different" then us.

Something about being online makes bashing that much easier, which is why I *try* not to take it too seriously--and when I'm bashing Republicans, I know they're people like we are, with families and feelings,etc.

Except George Bush and those in his administration, who really are just inept corrupt dummies.
