1. You know things are bad...
when the current Bozo makes one nostalgic for Nixon. It's true though, Dumya makes Nixon look like a master statesman!

3. I agree - I'd give money to have Tricky Dick back at this point
At least he had an IQ, a vision, and some sense. He was a paranoid criminal git, but at least he also cared for the country and knew how to talk.

Granted, I'd rather have Clnton, or Gore, or Kerry, or Carter, or Truman, or any other host of presidents, but given the choice of Reagan, Bush I, Shrubbie McAWOL, or TRicky Dick, it's a very, very easy choice for Nixon.

4. I can't believe I'm saying it...but so would I.
Nixon's record as President had some notable achievements...detente with the Soviet Union, overtures to China, domestically the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency and revenue sharing with the states.

It truly pains me to laud Nixon in any way, as he was a ruthless paranoid with appalling personal morals (as the White House tapes will attest. He was anti-semitic, disparaging towards African-Americans and homophobic. A nasty piece of work, basically).

But yet...compared to what we're saddled with right now...I'll take Nixon. Which pretty much sums up how low we've sunk for leadership in this country.

5. True on all counts!
We have sunk awful low.

Hell, even though I'd prefer Nixon, I'd take Reagan back in a heartbeat, too.

And I do think people often forget the good that Nixon did do - such as you mentioned, the EPA, opening China, etc.

As they say on Vulcan, "Only Nixon could go to China".

6. I'd even take Spiro Agnew over Cheney.
Being nostalgic over Nixon, Haldeman/Ehrlichman, Agnew, John Mitchell as Attorney General...

Thinking about that can send one into a spiral of depression, that's for sure.

7. Ain't that the truth!
Shit's gotten so bad, we're thinking of calling back the criminals from the last generation to raise the integrity, honesty, and competence level of the white house...pretty f-in' sad.
