I brushed my teeth left-handed this morning
Decided to go out on a limb and shake things up. Too damn difficult. My left hand is practically useless.

Please don't make this thread degenerate into something other than what was intended!

1. What prompted...?
I'm left-handed but I just realized I brush my teeth right-handed. Couldn't tell you why.

2. I guess I'm REALLY bored
I realized that I really never use my left hand except to carry things. I know I can't write left-handed. I was brushing my teeth as usual and decided I'd see if my left hand is as useless as I believed it to be. It is!

8. It's a worthy experiment...
Every once in a while, I realize I've been pouring soda into my glass with one hand and switch to see if it still works. It does, but I have to keep in practice. :)

At least you do cool stuff when you're bored...I tend to do stupid and destructive things :D

7. Practice! It's good to know how to use both hands -- I broke my right arm

a couple of years ago and was glad I'd been deliberately using my left hand a good bit before it happened. (I'm not a psychic who foredaw a need to use my left hand; it's that my right hand is more affected by lupus than my left hand, often contorting itself into a claw.) The hardest thing to do with the non-dominant hand is writing, IMO, but, interestingly, I can draw with my left hand. I decided to try that since we all know the right side of the brain controls the left hand and the right brain is also the creative side. I should go back to practicing drawing left-handed -- thanks for reminding me!

13. I try to do that, too...
keep the brain from hard-wiring too much into certain patterns. My mom's got Alzheimer's ("AD"), and I read somewhere that you can keep the onset of AD away longer (and of course now I'm paranoid b/c my mother has it) if you do lots of puzzles, do balance exercises, switch hands a lot while brushing teeth, washing dishes, etc... it really does help keep mental pathways active, and that's one of the things that can help combat AD.
