To everyone who helped me through my depression the other night: Thanks! |
|
I got over it; in fact, I was able to figure out where that freeper fish-head was coming from. He kept using the phrase "radical liberals" with me. I told him not to believe the right-wing hoo-hah about liberals hating America. After all, I told him, I'm a liberal and I love America. If I hated America, I wouldn't care what happened to it.
Ah, he said, but there are "radical liberals" who DO hate America. It wasn't until later that I realized what he was saying: "radical liberals" is just politically correct terminology for "filthy Jews". I'd love to confront him about that and see his reaction. 'That's what you meant, right? Filthy Jews? The Jews, the fags and the coloreds are taking over America, and you want to save it for decent white folks, right?'
I'd love to see him squirm and deny it; although it's just as probable he will admit it. I'd like that better. Better a bigot who admits it than one who tries to hide it under the tawdry rubric of "patriotism".

1. You hit nail squarely! It is probably why so many freepers are 'pro-life' |
|
too. They are just terrified of the 'others' and are so worried about being bred out of existence. That is probably why it used to be illegal to have interracial marriages. That bigotry/fear thing really trips up the progress of the species.
Glad you are feeling better about the incident. A little understanding goes a long way, doesn't it. Too bad the other guy won't try that approach. ;)

4. i'm glad someone helped you, but it wasn't "depression" |
|
depression isn't a one-night deal. when i hear " i was soo depressed yesterday" it irritates me. being down isn't being depressed.

Let's just say I was down in the dumps. Blue. A touch of melancholy. Under the weather. Had my nose on my shoetops. Stormclouded.

6. Well, that is depression, just not clinical depression |
|
So let's not put too fine a point on it. I didn't take your post to be using the term in a technical way.

7. i didn't either, not sure why i pointed it out.. |
|
suffering from depression for as long as i can remember, i gues it just bugs me when people make light of it like it is a cold or a headache.. it's part of the "get over it" mentality.
No big deal, just caught me in a mood.
