One programme from that genre, "Big Brother", is something I've never seen. I rarely watch television anyway.

My take on it is that it's the new version of the Roman Games. Maybe a sign that there is something screwed up with people watching other people in the hope that there will be arguments etc.

A large number of my friends, many of them highly educated, rave over BB. I can't get my head around that. Perhaps I'm being too puritan in my attitudes.

Live police programmes are just as bad I expect.

I don't think there's anything funny about it.

And for all y'all like to tell yourselves that it's just for laughs, I have too many students who really think like this. They are poignantly contrast against the transfer students who've lived through some horrific times and can barely bring themselves to think of them.
