Companies don't like my home address
I tried to sign up with Blockbuster online rentals and it won't let me because they say they can't find my address. This has happened before with a comp-usa/AOL discount thing where I could have gotten 20 dollars off my purchase if I signed up for a trial of AOL.
Has anyone else had problems with this? My mailman finds my house every day and the bills still arrive. This house has been here for 20 years- why is it so hard to find my address?

1. I have had that problem too...
The city map has a different address than the one on my house. I get mail at the same house for two different address because my house is on a corner. It is too stupid!!!! Electric bill comes to one address, and telephone bill to the other. RED TAPE. If it is a major hassle you may have to get a real estate lawyer.

2. I don't have a 911 address
and the state has fits when it comes to issuing driver's licenses. My husband's says "X miles on State Hwy XX past the town of XXXX". Someone told us that if we didn't have 'regular addresses' instead of RR # Box ### , we'd be regarded as terrorists.

But so far, no one has had any trouble mailing me anything.

4. I am in a rural area but not a rural box number.
If they just took a leap of faith and sent it, I would get it. I guess the "computer" says it doesn't exist so it must not, huh? My god, is it possible that I don't exist because my home isn't on the "list" the computer has?

3. Check with your local post office
Ask them for the correct "form" of your address including the zip-plus-4 zip code. Using the extra four digits on the zip code may help.

5. Is it long? Too many characters can freak out the computers.
I worked for a company with a 5 digit number, a direction, and a two word street name... and a suite number. People were forever having difficulties getting their machines to accept that yes, that 40 character string WAS an address, and yes, it was all necessary.

6. Try locating it on mapquest ...
I used to live on Basset Street, but when I went to MapQuest, it couldn't find it. Found that it and other sites listed it as Bassett Street.
