Does anyone else absolutely loathe 7th Heaven? |
|
Actually, I can't think of a show on the WB that I like...but 7th Heaven is the worst IMHO. It's a 1950s show, except worse because they beat you over the head with every topic. Watching it is like a temporary lobotomy. And yet it goes on and on and on...

They're like a Stepford Family, but with faux-rebellious Stepford Teenagers that pretend to rebel, but then tell on themselves so they will get off scott free.
Not to mention the overblown bullshit ordeal they make out of simple childhood shit like trying a cigarette, etc. It becomes like an entire family tragedy if one kid is caught smoking a cigarette by one of his/her siblings.
That and my ex-girlfriend (who is evil enough in her own right) all but forced me to watch it with her. . . GAAAAAAH, now THAT'S torture.

3. Most of WB is like that |
|
They are going after the "born-again" demographic. The 7th Heaven style goes through most shows except maybe Charmed and Smallville.

7. That was the point when it was created back in 1996. |

They wanted a teen drama that would capture a different audience than Beverly Hills 90210, Party of Five, and Melrose Place. They went the family friendly route, and ended up making a small success (for a network of its size) out of the show. The execs were not impressed, so they created Dawson's Creek, a show which made the fundie puritan's heads a splode throughout it's run, which became a major hit. However, they were sort of forced to keep 7th heaven on ore face the fundie's and the PTC's wrath.

Just when you think the show's about to end, (I.e. when two major characters have left the show) it just keeps going and going. It's like the TV gods keep trying to kill the show but it just won't die!

There was one episode where one of the kids started hanging out with this jerk and the jerk was extremely disrespectful towards women. Then they blamed his behavior on the music that he listens to. :puke:
The only appealing character on the show was the dog, and maybe the father to an extent.

Gilmore Girls - and I'm a straight male! It's the writing & dialogue are pretty funny. I don't go out of my way to watch it, but I usually get a chuckle out of it.

Everybody sounds exactly the same.
Same rapid fire dialouge delivery. It's just so fucking annoying.

The father on 7th Heaven is actually a relatively strong figure; it seems as if every other patriarch in the medium is an emasculated, boorish slob.

I,on the other hand, hate it. There is one actress on the show (the middle sister, I think) that bugs the shit out of me. I don't know what it is about her, but just seeing her on screen irritates me.
Jessica Biel is hot, though.

21. Biel HATED working on that show. |

IN fact, she did a nude (or scantilay clad, at least) pictoral in some Men's magazine so she could get herself fired from the show.
