Poll question: Socks & Shoes... Which Method Do You Use?
I'm a 'sock-sock' kind of guy myself.

2. Has to be sock-sock then shoe-shoe since I don't wear shoes in the house
I only wear socks or bare feet.

3. I'm thinkin..
..this HAS to be a reference to the All In The Family episode in which Mike and Gloria argue about being able to hop around in a snowstorm if the house catches fire? :-)

22. No, it wasn't. It was Archie & Mike
the same epsisode where Mike & Archie share a room for the night. Mike spills water in the bed & Archie thinks he peed on him.

23. I beg to differ.
Mike was putting on his shoes and socks, and Archie didn't understand the sock/shoe/sock/shoe method. Mike went on to explain how if the house burned, Archie would be standing outside in just two socks, but Mike would at least be able to hop up and down on one foot and keep his feet dry. I Know My All In The Family, my friend.

28. We have a winner.
Great episode. Mike had that quirk, and Archie had the corner of the blankets folded over so he could ventilate if,.... oh nevermind.

5. Gotta go with sock-sock. I spend a lot of time in just my socks at home
They keep my feet warm but don't make 'em sweat like my super warm fleece slippers do.

7. Left sock, left shoe.
Then, right sock right shoe.
I also hate having bare feet, but that has nothing to do with this poll.

9. It took six years for Bushy to learn the sock then shoe trick
The Dickweed would still be wearing his socks over his cowboy boots if poppy hadn't got him into Yale & Harvard.
Do people really do one sock then a shoe ? okay which pant leg do you put on first ? Left first if you are right handed ?
Do republicans dress themselves ? and who would want to undress a republican ?
This is the most thought provoking poll on DU yet, shit for the rest of the day I am gonna be thinking about shoes & socks and why we put them on the way we do.

and my shoes are downstairs, by the door. Sock shoe, sock shoe would involve way more energy than I want to devote to this activity.

18. A related more interesting question:
Do you tie a "square" bow knot or a "granny" bow knot?

Most people learned to tie their shoes when they were very young, and never give it a thought even if they have had Boy Scout/Girl Scout/etc knot tying training concerning the proper way to tie a knot between two strings. Consequently, about as many people tie a granny bow knot (which tends to come loose) as tie a square bow knot (which tends to stay tied). Even those who tie a square bow knot may do so only by chance, they could have very easily have learned the other and never thought to examine the knot carefully. (Admission: I realized my shoe tying was via granny bow knots only after having read an article about it, even though I was an avid knot enthusiast from my Boy Scout days).

Why do we say "Put your shoes and socks on."?
Have you EVER heard "Put your socks and shoes on."?
Why do we say it backwards?

Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 04:45 PM by legalcoffee
I heard... that your feet get wider and before you know it your shopping in the wide section and donating your heels.

sock-sock shoe-shoe
If I had to leave in a hurry i.e. fire I'd like to wear 2 of something rather than one & one.. weird eh? Then when I have to buy a new pair of shoes I'll still have a matching pair of socks. :+
