Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 06:06 PM by Bluebear
Freeper governor has called out the National Guard to standy to mobilize (good luck finding any) and this could be one of the "top 10 storms in history", so says WBZ news!

20-30 foot waves building by tomorrow morning and hurricane force winds!

We here in CT are just laying back and enjoying. Tell Mitt to get a grip. God, I hate that guy. How did he get elected anyway?

9. He maintains a residence in Belmont
Dunno if he's ever there, however, given how much time he spent running around the country campaigning for Dumbya (and angling for a new job).

Belmont, by the bye, is where the headquarters of the John Birch Society used to be.

As to why he's the governor, it's partly because Massachusetts Democrats have perfected the art of the circular firing squad.

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
540 PM EST SAT JAN 22 2005

.A POWERFUL WINTER STORM WILL TURN FEROCIOUS TOMORROW MORNING
BRINGING WELL IN EXCESS OF A FOOT OF SNOW TO ALL OF SOUTHERN NEW
ENGLAND...PROBABLY A TOP TEN SNOWSTORM IN THE HISTORIC ANNALS OF THE
PAST 100 YEARS OR SO.

THIS STORM IS EXPECTED TO CREATE BLIZZARD CONDITIONS FROM THE
INTERSTATE 495 CORRIDOR AND THE MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE TO THE SOUTH
COASTS OF MASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND.

THIS IS A POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING SITUATION FOR THOSE WHO
VENTURE OUT DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE STORM TONIGHT AND SUNDAY.
TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENDED UNTIL LATE SUNDAY.

TWENTY TO 30 INCHES OF SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE IN EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS
INCLUDING THE CAPE AND ISLANDS AS WELL AS ALL OF RHODE ISLAND BY LATE
SUNDAY...MAKING IT HIGHLY PROBABLE THIS WILL BE ONE OF THE FIFTH
WORST SNOWSTORMS IN RECORDED HISTORY FOR BOSTON AND PROVIDENCE.

DRIFTS OF AT LEAST 6 FEET ARE EXPECTED IN PARTS OF EASTERN
MASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND WITH WIND GUSTS AFTER MIDNIGHT ALONG
THE COAST REACHING 55 TO 65 MPH...EXCEPT POSSIBLY TO 75 MPH ON
NANTUCKET AND CAPE COD SUNDAY MORNING.

THE STRONG WINDS WILL CAUSE SEVERE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WITH
WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES. THE WINDS LIKELY WILL ALSO TRIGGER
AT LEAST SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES NEAR THE COAST...AND TO A LESSER
EXTENT INLAND.

OVER CAPE COD...NANTUCKET AND MARTHAS VINEYARD...THE SNOW
WILL LIKELY BE OF A SOMEWHAT WETTER CONSISTENCY...AND THUS CREATE THE
RISK FOR WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES SUNDAY MORNING.

SNOW WILL TAPER TO SNOW SHOWERS LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON OR EVENING.
CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL PERSIST INTO LATE SUNDAY
EVENING ACROSS EXPOSED AREAS.

AMOUNTS AS HIGH AS 3 FEET POSSIBLE. THE MOST VULNERABLE LOCATIONS
FOR 30 INCHES OR MORE OF SNOW ARE ESSEX...PLYMOUTH...NORFOLK AND
BARNSTABLE COUNTIES IN MASSACHUSETTS AND PROVIDENCE COUNTY IN RHODE
ISLAND.

ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL MAY CONTINUE ON THE CAPE AND ISLANDS
INTO SUNDAY NIGHT.

ANY TRAVEL IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED UNTIL LATE SUNDAY OR SUNDAY NIGHT.
IF YOU LEAVE THE SAFETY OF BEING INDOORS YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR LIFE AT
RISK.

18. They were forecasting lower amounts during the day.
Latest is 6-12 inches. It started in Brunswick around 6:00. Coming down nice & steady, but not much accumulation yet.
