Edited for drunkenness

My girlfriend just got totally OBSESSED with those. We got sick and started drinking them...
Now she's buying ingredients to make our own, home-made hot buttered rum. We're missing nutmeg and cardamon (sp?), though- gotta head back to the store, eventually.
Hey, what do you use for yours? Do we need all these ingredients??

6. nope. mine is very simple |
|
1/2 gallon premium vanilla ice cream, softened 1 pound butter, softened (no substitute) 1 (1-pound) box powdered sugar 1 (1-pound) box dark brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon you could add 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg, but it's not necessary (i didn't)
mix it all up and keep in a tupperware in your freezer. spoon some into a mug add hot water and rum and voila! :9

10. oh and an even easier recipe is just the ice cream (1/2 gall), |
|
the butter-1lb. and the brown sugar-1lb. (doesn't need to be dark either)
that is a basic recipe my gramma used to use.

15. Here you go from Rachael Ray |
|
2/3 cup packed dark brown sugar 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature 1/4 cup honey 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves Pinch salt 3/4 cup spiced rum 2 cups boiling water 4 sticks cinnamon, for garnish
Using an electric mixer, beat the brown sugar, butter, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt in a medium bowl until blended and smooth. Transfer the mixture to a 4-cup (or larger) measuring cup. Add the rum and then 2 cups of boiling water. Stir until the butter mixture dissolves. Divide the buttered rum among 4 mugs. Garnish with the cinnamon sticks and serve.

5. Just had an unpleasant drink called "sacco" |
|
Made with coconut water, light rum and lime (yeah, we have a LOT of snow and I am so bored I resorted to dealing with a fresh coconut as entertainment for most of the early evening)
It wasn't very good and I am about to switch to my standard vodka and soda (The sacco didn't excatly have a very tropical effect...there's still a foot of snow on the ground and now I feel kind of gross lol)

8. I will join this thread a little later, after I've had dinner. |
|
Until then I'm undecided. Bourbon or merlot? Bourbon or merlot? Bourbon or merlot?

13. Not entirely snowbound, the streets aren't too bad. |
|
But it's one of those, you really shouldn't go anywhere if you don't have to kinda nights. We got about a foot of snow today.
I'll will consider your recommendation.
