I have two "aquaintences" who had that "Clown Thing" since they were little kids and their parents gave them "clown dolls" and took them to circuses where they "freaked out."

In both cases their Parents were "well meaning" but didn't understand the revulsion about "Clowns."

I didn't pick up a "Clown Phobia" but I have other phobias...:D

So...give or take a few "phobias" I can understand just a few folks who just can't deal with "Clowns."

Does it mean that "they" or "I" need to call in the "white jackets?" NO... most of us keep our "phobias" secret.

But...just don't give a "Birthday Gift" to a "Clown Phobic" and expect to keep them as a friend for life. :D just some humor here about a REAL problem... :shrug:

Their mascot was a monstrous-looking clown because the singer explained that he feared clowns as a child. I'd never heard of such a thing and thought it was ridiculous--the last thing a clown would want to do is frighten a child. But I thought about it some more, and realized it wasn't really so much different from fearing snakes or going over bridges. I have since met someone who confessed to fearing bubbles. And I remember how terrified my one-year old niece got when she saw her five-year old cousin in a Halloween mask.

48. I think what you say is true...One person's Fear is another person's Joy..

But, who are we to judge? I think in many ways "continuity of society" takes precidence over our fears...to move us forward.

But, to deny folks their fears...discounts the fears and does, sometimes, more harm than good with our more sensitive folks.

Who knows...about these things...I certainly don't know what the result of taking kids who "fear clowns" to Circuses is.

But...maybe it's taking them, exposes them to their "fears" and us to our own "fears" and makes life and "passing on expriences" important in some way. :shrug: as I said..Who Knows?
