I saw a guy with a Bush sticker stuck on the parkway and I didn't help.
I was driving south on the Meadowbrook on LI. This guy was stuck in the left lane with his hood up. I was slowing down to help him and then I saw a big Bush/Cheney 2004 sticker. I sped up and left. I don't feel particularly bad about it. He would have gotten fat and lazy if I helped him.

But then, I live in a small community. I saw a big truck with a "Boycott France" sticker, a Republican congress critter sticker, a "W" sticker and some other GOP crap on it. Now, that guy, I do believe I would leave stranded. Unless, of course, he had a dog with him :)

Most of them would have done the same to you (or worse) if they'd seen you with a Kerry/Edwards or antiwar sticker on your car.

And I agree with other posters who pointed out that wingnuts love to talk about personal responsibility and self-reliance, so let him have a taste of his "personal responsibility" for once.

35. According to Ayn Rand and Milton Friedman, you helped him
You helped teach him a valuable lesson in self-reliance and planning ahead. Also a lesson in Never having anything bad happen to you. And a lesson in Never having acts of god happen when you're in the area.

Those lessons are far more valuable to him, in the long run, than any transient and futile attempt at immediate "help," which would only foster a culture of dependency.

the spelling would be worse. I would like to note that I wasn't the only one driving on that parkway, but I know that no one else stopped to help him. What does that mean? I'm not sure. Maybe it means that this country is full of conservatives that think he should pick himself up by his bootstraps. Maybe it means that others can't be bothered.

Some believe it's a karma thing. Did being a right wing asshole lead to his bad karma? I have no idea. Will my pickyness mean bad karma for me? I don't know, but I'm not that worried about it.

Is this the best Rumsfeld impression of a post ever? It appears that way. :)

39. Well, lets do some profiling!
More likely to own a gun. ( I don't want to get shot.)
Probably has the money for a tow or knows a friend with an SUV who can tow him.
He smells like Beef & Cheese. (I don't want to stink up my car.)
He may want God to help him. (I wouldn't want to get in the way of JC.)
Maybe his car was out of Hydrogen? (Per Bush Energy Plan)
Could be having quality time on the road "his" tax dollars paid for.

anyone of any particular faith that encourages kindness no matter what the person in need believes.

If you're none of the above, at least you don't falsely label yourself the way so many right-wingers do.

Your actions (or lack thereof) were a triumph of small-minded pettiness. Way to go.

Not ALL right-wingers are morons, you know. Some can be persuaded. Never know until you try.

their time than spying on DU and saying it's pathetic we say we would not stop to help some one who voted for and support the party of this very attitude as did they.

The cheney bush junta is about cutting Medicaid for the poor (because they can pull themselves up by their bootstraps) and taxes for the wealthy (because god knows, they don't have efuckingnough). He wants to dismantle Social Security (with a poorly planned ploy he calls "fixing it"), and has got the WMD propaganda machine working OT to convince the suckasses who inhabit freeperville that there is something wrong with it. Since they need no sources or proof, just the word of a super fucking dumb shit sock puppet who claims to have a mandate and the backing of God (again-no proof for either-'cause he fucking doesn't), it should be fait accompli by now. What do poor old people need with money anyway?

You should never stop to help anyone on a limited access roadway. It's dangerous, due to traffic and total nutjobs that are out and about these days. Make note of the location and call the state patrol. If your ARE broken down and someone offers to help, stay in your vehicle, keep your doors locked and ask them to call the state patrol for you, or auto club if you belong to one.

And what's really pathetic you lurking asshats from CU(n/t) is you, lurking on DU on a Saturday night. Or anytime, for that matter. Apparently your members and views are too boring to hold your interest. Losers.

I wouldn't have helped him. It's strictly your decision whether you help anyone out on the road, you're not obligated.

THEY think survival in society should be based on individual merit, "survival of fittest" and to hell with the disadvantaged. So if he's not smart enough to keep his car in working order, well tough sh*t.

That may sound harsh, but I hate them. Truly. What can I say.
