I just stepped in a foot of snow.

Most of the sidewalks around my apartment are pretty well cleaned up, but during one of my signature moments of inattention, I managed to step off of the sidewalk on my way back from buying my dinner, right into a huge pile of snow. Practically everything from my shin down was covered for the rest of the walk.

So yeah, I'm frozen. And there's a ton of snow out there.

what would your mother say.. It is a day for boots, snowpants, scarves turtle necks, hats and gloves.

My mother wouldn't know what she's talking about with these things, and she would probably tell you as much. :)

3. If you dont have snow pants

get some long underwear or wear pajama bottems under your jeans. Even pantyhose under your jeans will help to keep you legs warm. It's most important to keep the feet, butt, head and hands warm. My 11 yrd old hates me for making him dress in layers when he goes outside but he never complains he's cold.

4. I usually do.

I usually wear 'track pants' or something similar to that -- it's very light, and manages to keep my legs warm at the same time. This time around, it was only a short walk. "What could possibly go wrong?"

And everytime I say that, something goes wrong. :)

6. Poor little Florida boy.

I'm always amazed when people are smart enough to get in to very well respected universities, but don't know how to dress appropriately for the weather.

On a similar note, my niece was accepted into MIT, but didn't want to go there because she was afraid it might snow on occasion. Now I ask, how can you be smart enough to get accepted to MIT, but not go there because you thought that snow was a major inconvenience. :shrug:

I'm just yankin' yer chain. But seriously, you need to buy some boots....and remember "Two pairs of socks from Christmas through the end of February!!!"

7. That's the thing -- I was wearing boots.

I finally got around to buying a pair before I came back after Christmas, and it's a good thing I did. The two pairs of socks rule is a good one, though -- I don't do enough of that.

8. What can I say, I was covered in snow at one point today.

I was doing snow removal. I've got this great Gore-Tex light parka that I bought like, 12 years ago. I still wear it to do work outside in the Winter. It's perfect. The wrists are velcro'd, it's waterproof. When I wear it, I'm invincible, at least as far as snow is concerned.

Anyway, I find that even if you get covered in snow, the humidity indoors is so low, that you dry off almost immediately.
