Best Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry Tune
Forget for the moment the man is a Tory....It is my opionion Byran Ferry and Roxy Music were Light years ahead of anything in their time. When I first heard their stuff (Virginia Plain) I was thinking "wow - 80's music that's actually GOOD." Then I saw when it was released - NINETEEN SEVENTY FRICKEN THREE!!! What else in 73 was doing what this was?

Personally my favorites are either 2HB or Ladytron.

But what's yours?

3. Just like to point mention ...
that Brian Eno's early records, just after he split from Roxy Music, are quite amazing, not at all like his later, ambient music. Examples would be: "Here Come the Warm Jets", "Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy", and "Before and After Science", although the last one shades into the ambient at times.

Another amazing band in the Roxy category is King Crimson, especially in that same period. "Red" and "Lark's Tongues in Aspic".

6. "In Every Dreamhome, a Heartache"
From "For Your Pleasure", which is, I think, their best album.

Second fave song would be "Oh Yeah", which makes me all teary-eyed everytime.

Oh Yeah - love that one too...
Some expression in your eyes
overtook me by surprise

where was I
how was I to know ?
How we can drive to a movie show
when the music is here in my car ?
There's a band playing on the radio
with a rhythm of rhyming guitars

they're playing
oh yeah
on the radio.

And so it came to be our song

and so on through all summer long

day and night drifting on into love.
Driving you home from a movie show
so in tune to the sounds in my car.
There's a band playing on the radio
...

It's some time since we said goodbye
and now we lead our seperate lives.
But where am I
where can I go ?
Driving alone to a movie show
so I turn to the sounds in my car.
There's a band playing on the radio
and it's drowing the sound of my tears.
They're playing
oh yeah
on the radio.

7. "Thrill of it All"
"In Every Dream Home a Heartache" of course.

"A Song for Europe" Wow, this one gives me chills.

"Re-Make, Re-Model" merits a mention.

I'm very proud to say that Bryan and I share a birthday even.

8. "More Than This"
Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 10:40 PM by Bluebear
I could feel at the time
There was no way of knowing
Fallen leaves in the night
Who can say where they're blowing
As free as the wind
And hopefully learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning
More than this - there is nothing
More than this - tell me one thing
More than this - there is nothing
It was fun for a while
There was no way of knowing
Like dream in the night
Who can say where we're going
No care in the world
Maybe I'm learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning
More than this - there is nothing
More than this - tell me one thing
More than this - there is nothing

10. Another of my old time favs
Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music:thumbsup: Yep, I was listening to this way back then.

Avalon, More Than This, Slave to Love, Jealous Guy, and Is Your Love Strong Enough, are a few of my top favs.

I must also toss in ones like Same Old Scene, Oh Yeah, and Over you.

Sorry:shrug: I can't just choose one or two and there are so many more I can't think of the titles at the moment;-) What can I say I like Brian and Roxy Music:evilgrin:
