"Prince of Tides"Streisand/Nolte...watching an old tape I recorded
Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 10:13 PM by KoKo01
which has a commercial with Ann Richards (TX) and Mario Cuomo... I think I must have taped it when the "Chimp" was running against Richards.

Not only is that an Incredible movie for "nostalgia" but for those of us who grew up "Lowcountry South" and lived in NYC ...it drags our hearts out there if we had "interesting families" we had to deal with.

Watching this, after all these years, and "fast-forwarding" through the Richards/Coumo ad...kind of makes it all really devastating. Chimp beat Richards and we live with the curse of him now...and we have few really good movies like this today...imho, anyway.

I think I should have opted for an old "Pink Panther" rather than crying my eyes out over "Prince of Tides" which I haven't seen since taping this all those years ago...:-(

"Prince of Tides" is a really good movie though. It looks even better because of the story and acting given the dreck that can be out there today.

1. Pat Conroy's novel far surpasses the film version.
It's a long novel but very easy to read despite the depressing content. Check it out some time!

2. i love that movie too.
the book was even better, but they did a good job transferring it to film. here's a tissue, you can't help but sob at that one.

Pink Panther movies always crack me up, i just watched one the other day and was rolling. Peter Sellers is brilliant.

5. Pat Conroy.....
One of my favorite authors of all time. I admit I haven't seen the movie. Read the book, and also Lords of Discipline, if you haven't. :)

7. While you're at it, read "The Water Is Wide" and "The Great Santini."
Two more great novels from Pat Conroy!
