Just when you thought you have seen it all
This is the strangest computer device I have ever seen:

Brief Summary

USB Noodle Strainer - The $120 USD USB-powered 'gadget' is probably a cookware especially made for noodles... but we couldn't figure out how the device really works.

There is even a video.

USB Powered Noodle Strainer

Everything USB Gadgets

This stuff is too rich. I never post in the lounge, but this is too hard to pass up. :wow: :silly:

Getting even stranger now:

http://www.i4u.com/article2752.html">Self Destruction Button DX

Soroban Geeks says the Self Destruction Button can be connected via USB and can be used to block access to certain applications. There is not much information what this self destruction button replica gadget can do. Of course it sure is fun to have this thing on a office desk.

The self destruction button (I like the altavista translation: Suicide bombing button DX) sells on the Japanese store http://tenant.depart.livedoor.com/t/livedoorshop/item_detail?id=346274">livedoor for 3,990yen (~$40).

I guess that when you need to relieve some stress, or blow up your house...

10. Try taking it on an airplane
bad idea.

Like the time in college I set my roommates laptop start-up screen to a 10-second countdown before he flew home.

8. Nothing
Seriously, I've been following LBN for a couple of weeks, trying to archive news stories. I'm glad I took some time to search for USB memory sticks so that I came across this.

It's things like this that keep me sane. That and Albinoblacksheep...

11. Geez, I'd better hide this thread. My father will want this if he sees
it. He's a sucker for the gadgets on the infomercials.

12. That's a summer delicacy in Japan, frequently enjoyed
while visiting scenic spots. The noodles would be boiled with a small propane stove. No problem there, but the ice cubes, needed to chill them before before passing them through the dip sauce??? Perhaps that gadget contains a Peltier-effect cooler ... after that, a hearty (and noisy) "SLUUUURPPP"!!

13. if i remember correctly it does that and keeps the noodles loose.
prevents clumping (hence rotating the noodles around) while cooling it off and keeping it cool.

they could just use butter, but then that'd affect the taste and the japanese are quite particular connoiseurs. such alterations to the recipe would be noticeable and unbearably unacceptable.

they have whole restaurants that do this. but a USB one makes it far more convenient when working at your desk during lunch hour (as some are wont to do).

... to think, i'm going to have to live, learn, speak, and understand all of this as part of my degree. :) it's like space travel! :7
