You know what I REALLY hate?
When you wake up and decide you want waffles for breakfast, mix it all up, cook 'em, and then realize as they finish cooking that you're out of butter, and there' sa blizzard outside so you can't go get butter really fast at the store across the street (which is closed because of the weather), so you have to eat your waffles with just syrup :(.

I hate that.

2. I suggest becoming a terrorist to vent your anger.
Not having butter for one's waffles is just wrong.

4. According to Freepers, I'm already a terrorist sympathizer :)
And remember boys and girls, if you can't be a terrorist, then be a terrorist sympathizer.

5. You really hate that?
You'd be puzzled by me, then. I never put butter on my waffles - just syrup.

8. That's just wrong.
A waffle isn't a waffle without the buttery goodness of . . .well. . . butter :)

12. But they're NOT dry. They have syrup on them.
Quite often that syrup is homemade too.

16. Made with butter?
Sorry, just giving you a little shit. I think waffles MUST have butter...real butter and lots of it!

18. No, I make the syrup with sugar, water and
Mapleine or cinnamon. Cinnamon syrup is extra good with French toast.

I just don't eat a lot of butter. Fresh bread and lefse require real butter, and I make cookies with real butter. For me, waffles don't need butter. I don't butter my pancakes either. :)

6. Just think of it this way:
Cholesterol, guy. Your arteries will thank you for not having that butter on your waffles. :-)

Just putting a positive spin on it.

10. I'll eat 'em, and yes, I probably will like it, but my craving for
buttery waffles won't be satiated, and I will fester in a butterlessness funk all day :(

14. Do you use an electric waffle iron, and if you do, how do you emotionally
deal with cleaning the batter that bakes all over the places that aren't non-stick? I found that so depressing that I reverted to using Eggos.

BTW..on the butter. Butter freezes great so maybe you should think of buying a pound or two to keep for just in case in your freezer.

20. Keep powdered milk on hand.
I do - I use powdered soy milk but you can use regular. I also keep canned milk - it's a good substitute for cream in certain recipes. They're both fine for baking/cooking.

And I don't put butter on my pancakes (no waffle iron) because it would interfere w/ that wonderful maple taste. But I ONLY use, real 100% maple syrup.

21. Nothing wrong with that
One of my favorite alternatives to the butter/syrup toppings is this:

I make my own blueberry waffles, and top them with fruit yogurt, (thawed) frozen berry mix and Kashi GoLean crunch.
