...This morning's recipe, from the Mason, TX "Through the Years" cookbook (1958): "Hatchiepatchies." :D
Hatchiepatchies
1 lb ground beef 1/4 lb ground pork 1 large onion, chopped 1 egg, beaten 1/4 cup cracker crumbs 1/4 cup chile sauce 1/4 cup evaporated milk 1 tsp celery seed 1 tsp horseradish 1 tsp prepared mustard 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Mix all ingredients. Spread on hot dog buns. Top with grated cheese and broil for 10 minutes. This makes 18 half-buns. Care should be taken to spread meet mixture to outer edge of bun to prevent bun from burning. 10 pounds meat serves 60 people. Wonderful for teenagers get-to-gethers, served with chips and cold drinks.
