Snow rant? Post it here
Because I don't have to go anywhere today and because the sun is out and I don't believe we're expecting more snow today, I thought I'd go out and knock the snow off my car windows so I won't have so much to do tomorrow morning. When I got out there I found that the kindly employees who cleared our sidewalks put the cleared snow up against my car, blocking it in. I had to knock a bunch of THAT snow out of the way before I could even get near my car to deal with the windows.

1. My rant
My boss keeps emailing me about going to work! I have approximately 2 feet of actual snow, close to 6 or 8 feet drifts in my yard alone, and this crazy bitch keeps emailing me about going to work today.

I have sent her no less than THREE nws notices that say "leaving your house could be fatal" and she wants to know if I am going to work or not.

I have replied and told her the plows have even left the roads in my area because the 40 - 50 mph winds just keep undoing what they just did.

She is daft! She has been emailing me since early last night. I'm about ready to tell her to go sit in the snow and cool her jets!

As if I would rather be stuck in the house with bored children in a storm like this anyway! I mean, just how many cups of hot chocolate can one make for them and have them be excited about it? They are firmly into the "annoying each other because they are bored" phases. I would rather be at work -- at least there if someone starts bitching I can tell them to stuff it with no guilt! LOL

Enough snow already.

6. Have her pick you up
Just tell her you'd be happy to come in but you need her to come and get you because you can't get out of your street. Tell her to bring a shovel. Jeeze....some people will never get it..Life does not revolve around work. Tell her also to bring a kid sitter for the kids because schools will be closed.

2. Before I even had coffee this morning
I had to shovel a path out back for the dachshund to do his "business." Oh, and did I mention our snow blower broke yesterday? And we had to hand shovel about 8 inches of snow off a huge driveway and now there's at least 10 inches more out there PLUS what the plows have piled up. And I have to get it clear enough to get out tomorrow because I have to get to work because I'm the flippen head of the department and I know at least half of the candy-asses who work for me will be AWOL or extra-late tomorrow!
ARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH.

I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow. I hate snow.

3. Same exact thing happened to me!
Edited on Sun Jan-23-05 01:12 PM by BattyDem

I was really pissed ... and worried, because I have a major back problem and I had no idea how I was going to get my car out. I know they have to clear the streets, but I wish there was some way they could do it without burying my car!

Anyway, I decided to brush the snow off the car (I have a brush with an extendable handle so I can reach over the snow piles) and worry about how to get the car free after that.

Well, I lucked out. While I was brushing my car off, my neighbor's 12 year old son saw me from the window and came out to help me - he shoveled while I brushed. Then his father and his 30 year old cousin, who had been clearing their huge driveway, came over with their shovels and snow blower. They cleared the snow enough so I could move the car back and forth several feet - when I moved, they took the snow blower and got the snow out of the way. My car is now free! I am sooo grateful to them.

Ok ... so this post was only a partial rant, because it actually turned out to be a great day! :D

4. I'm sitting here in the back bedroom (where the computer is--natch)
and watching the snow falling out my back window--it isn't still snowing, it's just the wind knocking it all off my roof. I've got my car--not dug out but *visible*, and the driveway behind my car is finally clear for my hubby to park in once he's got home. His shift was supposed to be 11am to 8pm yesterday--but he spent the night at my parents because it was closer to his job--because he had to be back in at 6am this morning. We live on a narrow street of rowhomes, so we're all pretty much on top of each other--there just aren't *places* top put all the snow we've got. And it's the light powdery stuff, so once I've got the pile up a certain height, half of what I shovel up just roooolllllls back down. I really think I'll be back out there again later, doing some *re-shovelling*.

5. We're over 22" and climbing in Lowell MA
Edited on Sun Jan-23-05 01:44 PM by ByTheRiver
All of the cars in the condo complex here are buried for the most part, so I go out to dig out my two cars, first shovelful of snow I threw - the scoop part of the shovel flies off the handle with the snow and gets buried in a huge snowdrift. I jump into the snowdrift and dig out the shovel scoop, and determine that the shovel cracked and cannot be repaired. I spend the next hour clearing out around the cars using the scoop without the handle. I trod back into the house, strip off my snow covered clothes, proceed to the bathroom and vomit. Great day so far!
