Why doesn't DU start a Freecycle???
It would be similar to http://freecycle.org/ but the items would be exchanged with fellow Dems. I'm sure many of us have attics or basements filled with stuff we no longer need or use. I alone have old printers, books, computers, and who knows what else. The person wanting the item would simply have to pay for shipping or if it is local, pick it up.

anyone?

3. It would be better to start one in your own community
Saves on shipping. Temporary 'Free Stores' like that often pop in Madison during moving seasons, and they are usually very busy.

4. I love Freecycle
although ours where I live I tend to give more than I receive but I love the idea of having our own.
It would be like Ebay only better--I wouldn't mind paying shipping on something that I wanted.
Great idea!

5. How does it work... is it barter, or no strings attached?
TIA!

6. Very easy
You join the freecycle in your area...they generally have to approve that you live in the area...www.freecycle.org.
It will guide you to your area.
Then if you have things to give away--it has to be 100% free--you just list it. If someone lists something that you want, then you contact them and arrange to pick it up.
If you are in need of something...you can list that as well and if anyone has what you need then they contact you.
It is a yahoo group and you can configure how you want messages sent or received.
I had a garage FULL of stuff that I didn't want to bother with having a garage sale or hauling off--I listed the stuff and now I can walk in my garage.
It's almost all cleaned out. I've met some nice people from my area and the bonus is that most of the people who freecycle that I have met are Democrats.:)

8. Naturally the folks you have met via freecycle tend
to be Dems or more liberal than a pug...a pug would sell a piece of string to make a profit.
